Apple App Store Down: How to Fix It

If you’re trying to access the App Store and are seeing the dreaded “Cannot connect to App Store” error message, don’t worry. The App Store is down for everyone, not just you. Here’s what you can do to fix the problem.

Apple App Store Down: How to Fix It

It happens to the best of us. You’re trying to download a new app or update a current one, and suddenly the Apple App Store is down. You see that dreaded “cannot connect” message, and you can’t do anything about it.

Don’t worry, there are a few things you can try to get the App Store working again. We’ll go over some of the most common solutions and hopefully one of them will work for you.

First, let’s make sure your device is connected to the internet. Try opening a website in Safari or another app that uses the internet. If it works, then you know your device is connected and the problem is with the App Store. If not, then you need to connect to a Wi-Fi network or turn on cellular data.

Once your device is connected to the internet, try these solutions:

Restart your device

The first thing you should try is restarting your device. This will fix a lot of small software issues and it’s a quick and easy solution. To restart your device, hold down the power button until the “slide to power off” message appears. Then, just slide to power off and wait a few seconds before holding down the power button again to turn your device back on.

Check the date and time

Another quick and easy solution is to check the date and time on your device. The App Store (and other Apple services) use your device’s date and time to validate your device and make sure you’re not trying to access the App Store from the future. If the date and time are wrong, the App Store (and other Apple services) won’t work.

To check the date and time on your device, go to Settings > General > Date & Time. Make sure the “Set Automatically” option is turned on and that the date and time are correct.

Sign out of your Apple ID and sign back in

If restarting your device and checking the date and time didn’t fix the problem, the next thing you should try is signing out of your Apple ID and signing back in. This will refresh your Apple ID’s connection to the App Store and hopefully fix the problem.

To sign out of your Apple ID, go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Tap on your Apple ID at the top of the screen and tap “Sign Out”. Then, sign back in with your Apple ID and password.

Reset your network settings

If signing out of your Apple ID didn’t fix the problem, the next thing you should try is resetting your network settings. This will reset all of your device’s Wi-Fi passwords and settings, so make sure you know your Wi-Fi password before you do this.

To reset your network settings, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Update your software

If none of the above solutions worked, the problem might be with your software. Make sure you’re running the latest version of iOS, macOS, or tvOS. To update your software, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Hopefully one of the above solutions will fix the problem and you’ll be able to access the App Store again. If not, you might need to contact Apple support for further assistance.
